The Solar Plexus Chakra is the power center. It is the seat of our courage, confidence and will. The solar plexus chakra is located in the center of your abdomen between the two bottommost ribs. The solar plexus chakra is linked to the pancreas, which regulates blood sugar (glucose) and aids digestion.

It is not only the fire in our bellies, it’s the spark that animates our Spirit. It’s the drive to achieve and the motivation to take action and get things done. The solar plexus chakra is ruled by the element of fire and fire seeks to do one thing – transform.

Manipura (mah-ni-poor-ah) is the Sanskrit word for the solar plexus chakra. It means “jeweled place.” It’s where our passion comes to life. Here, we dazzle and sparkle by being courageous enough to allow the light to shine on every angle of ourselves. There is a warrior-like will to fight for what we want and a sense of empowerment to own what is ours.

Everyday, society encourages us to give our power away – to the media, entertainers, gurus, religious figureheads, government, corporate institutions – even friends and family. So many people and groups want to tell us what’s worth fighting for and how we should pattern our lives.

We disempower ourselves when we chase the life they want us to live, rather than living from our core. The solar plexus chakra is about kindling the inner fire and allowing it (your gut) to be your guiding influence – the one thing you can always trust to transform energy into action in a manner that feels right and true to you.
